For those of you who are planning to make a weekend of your time in Virginia, consider these popular destinations in the area.

The museum

Founded in 1939, the Chrysler Museum has a permanent collection of nearly 40,000 works and objects that span 5,000 years. It also has rotating contemporary art exhibitions. While you’ll get to see a good chunk of the museum at our wedding, most of its rooms will be closed for the night. So it's worth checking out during business hours, if you’re interested.

The beach

Virginia Beach stretches 35 miles and includes three beaches: Chesapeake Bay, Resort Area and Sandbridge. It has all of the usual oceanfront happenings: an amusement park, surf spots and a seemingly endless boardwalk of ice cream and funnel cake offerings.

The zoo

If you’re traveling with kids, you might want to visit the Norfolk Zoo, which features 350 animals (including African elephants, mandrills, and white rhinos) on 53 acres of land.
